About Kwon's Martial Arts

We are a Black Belt School!

We have been teaching martial arts at our Marlborough location since 1993. We offer instruction in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Kumdo, Thai Kickboxing and Jujitsu.   Since we first opened, we've produced 13 national champions, and 110 state champions. In addition, the Marlborough school has earned several awards for excellence, including an official citation from the President of the MA State Senate, and two official proclamations from the Mayor of Marlborough.

As of October 2007, we have promoted:

Did you know:

The Kukkiwon is the headquarters of the World Taekwondo Federation in Seoul, Korea.  Taekwondo is an Olympic sport and only black belt competitors who have Kukkiwon black belt certification, are eligible to compete in the Olympics.  We at Kwon's Martial Arts only certify our students with official Kukkiwon black belt certification.

Of the countries registered with the Olympic Committee, Taekwondo was rated 10th with 185 countries.  This means that your Taekwondo black belt is recognized in 185 countries throughout the world.

In January 2005, the number of people who have earned their black belt certification through the Kukkiwon has totaled 6 million.  This recognizes the World Taekwondo Federation as the largest martial arts organization in the world.

Black Belt Principles

We teach our students that in order to become a Black Belt on the outside... you must first become a Black Belt on the inside.   Therefore we always recite the Student Creed at the beginning of each class.  It's imperative that all of our students maintain a positive state of mind and possess a high moral and ethical standard.

Kwon's Student Creed

1. I will treat everyone with respect.

2. I will develop self-discipline to bring out the best in myself.

3. I will focus on developing my mental and physical growth.

4. I will always behave with dignity and integrity.

5. I will use my martial arts skills only for self-defense.
